Marvin organizes a research question, the work performed on it, and the resulting evidence in one project. You review the plan and choose when to start each autonomous run.
Choose a starting point
Start with the material you already have:
- A question: create a project and describe what you want to investigate.
- Papers or identifiers: use Atlas to search, inspect, and collect sources before adding them to a project.
- Data or prior work: name it during setup, then upload it from the project. See Use datasets and project files.
- A repeatable method: choose or create a workflow. See Use and create workflows.
- A disease and candidate targets: use Targets to compare evidence and plan research into important gaps.
You can combine these starting points. A project can use a research question, selected literature, uploaded data, and a workflow together.
Choose the work Marvin performs
When you start a run, choose one of these types:

Know the main terms

| Run | Autonomous research started with Start Marvin. |
| Iteration | One research cycle inside a run. A run can contain one or more iterations. |
| Finding | A research claim recorded with its confidence, supporting detail, and source links when available. |
| Chat | A conversation with Marvin about the project. A normal message does not add autonomous work to the run. |
What you control
With New Project, you approve the initial plan before the project opens. Approval opens the project; it does not start autonomous research. Before each run, you choose its type, thoroughness, iteration limit, and available compute controls.
During a run, you can ask questions, queue additional work, review activity, or stop the current iteration. After a run, you can inspect findings, reports, sources, experiments, decisions, and the history of earlier iterations.
Limits to check
Marvin can only use sources, files, services, and compute that it can access. Some records have metadata without readable full text. Search results show records loaded into the current view, not a promise that every relevant source has been found.
Treat findings as research outputs to review. Check the cited evidence, confidence, conflicts, missing evidence, and experiment results before using a conclusion.
